Purely In the spirit of ongoing debate.... I absolutely agree, but would have to add that represents the best possible case when budget is not a gating factor. For most folks a 2.4 setup DX6i, or if you can stretch to a DX7 is perfect.* (Understood that others may have different brand loyalties and new DX's are coming soon).

I think the chances for most of us of ever needing more than a single mode, or additional programming to what they offer, is probably pretty close to zero. Besides, the abundance of Bind and Fly etc make the whole thing far more accessible. For my part I also thing that 2.4 these days should be non-optional given the simplicity and lack of possibility of messing other people around!

All that said, if one then decides to step up to "fancy stuff" there is a very vibrant used market and selling gear for fair prices is no issue.



* I have both DX6i and DX7. Love them both for different reasons - That said "in the event of a fire" I would save the DX7
