As this was an older Hawk Sport from 2004, that had been flown by someone else a number of years ago, and as this has never been an issue with these tail rotors, I must assume that at some time in its' life it had had a bounced landing, that had resulted in the tail rotor contacting the ground or some other hard object. Also, as it had been sitting for a number of years, the bearing may have devleoped some rust, further weakening it.

Also note, that your swashplate issue was caused by you having installed longer ball joints, that had threaded areas that where too long, into the inner star. That certainly was no fault of the heli.

I mentioned earlier, that from your picture, your washout hub assembly needed to be flipped over (note the orientation of the assembly in the photo of one towards the end of this thread). This certainly would have caused the binding you reported after your rebuild.

But if you email me at pnoel@dccnet.com with your snail mail address I can send you out new bearings and t/r blade grip.

And stuff like this is why my first heli will likely be a Century.

Offers to help and also offers some replacement parts to make it better. You can't ask for better service than that!

Re: Century Swash Problem

Wow, clearly not Century's fault here (at least it doesn't appear so), and they're sending replacement parts for a 6 year old heli anyway. Find another company that'll do that! That's customer service!
