Remember seeing this thread a while back.

After a mental blackout with electric ARFs for a few years I have regained my senses and moved back to kit building for gassers.

Over 45 years of R/C I have always had to replace some wood in a kit (warped, too hard and heavy, etc) and the same thing with my most recent kit. One elevator half medium balsa, 12 grams. Other elevator half rock hard, 25 grams.

I live 2 minutes from Trillium Balsa in Delhi. Haven`t been there since he moved from Tillsonburg. Went over today and bought a beautiful sheet of medium soft 1/4 inch balsa. Barry let me sort through a pile of sheets. I have known him for 20 years. Same great service.

Cut a new elevator half - 10 grams.

Be warned that the prices on his web site haven`t been changed since his move. Add 40%.

My fellow club member has given you Trillium`s contacts in the previous post.

Bill

Re: Trillium Balsa

I have been quiet for long enough. I wish I could say my experience was a positive one.

Barry came highly recommended. Spoke to him several times. Seemed like a good guy.
Placed an order.

Barry was a great guy when I met him in person and gave him my money....... 5 months ago.

Still waiting for my balsa order, or even a refund at this point.

He hasn't replied to any emails or voice messages since Christmas

Re: Trillium Balsa

Well that's too bad Brad, sorry to hear that, that's really frustrating to say the least! When I dealt with him it was at his shop in Delhi in person, I picked out what I wanted with price list in hand, added it up for him, paid him and went on my merry way.
Very strange.

Re: Trillium Balsa

Yep,
I paid him in person at his shop as well.
I was in the area working on the Delhi fire station and dropped in.
Barry gave me the tour of the shop. Showed me the skid of balsa logs that my order would be cut from.
Was a great visit. Paid him right there.

That was Nov 28.

All the way up to Christmas I was constantly promised, "tomorrow or the next day"

Last contact was Dec 23rd on the phone. Was promised my order was leaving that day. He said that's why he was in the shop.

Nothing but silence since.........

Re: Trillium Balsa

Well Brad you are right Quiet long enough!
Everyone remembers a bad deal !
I hate getting screwed and that is that.
The sad thing is that a mans word or hand shake is no longer any good .
Those days are gone .
Sad but i have been bitten a few times and it sucks .
Bad publicity is your only pay back when all normal avenues fail.
Its a fact of life in todays times sad i wish it was different but thats the times we live in.
Paid in 30 days used to mean 30 days too
Now 45 60 90 whatever but quote everything cheap to get the work then twist on your dime.

Re: Trillium Balsa

Brad kept a few of us in the loop daily on the never ending saga, which still isn't resolved.. Very, very disappointing and I commend Brad for his patience. It'd be one thing if it was a sheet or two, but $300+ order paid in cash that never materialized is brutal.

Hopefully those that know the owner can highlight him that this experience has become public info so that he can correct the issue and refund Brad his hard earned money.

Having seen the lack of professionalism and dishonesty, I will never order from Trillium.

Trevor

Re: Trillium Balsa

Yep Tbrum your correct., I have been looking around myself and the gent helping me with doing some foam wings called Barry and said no problem I can get that. They used to deal business years back so now we have to do the terrible thing of ordering State side.
Sad part is the darn shipping.. Place we looked at was National balsa and no balsawoodinc.com. They have really decent pricing on sheeting and wood.,

1/16x4x48 balsa sheet $2.42..

James

Re: Trillium Balsa

I have been dealing with Trillium for many years and have never received anything but courtesy, complete professionalism, and above average customer service, to the extent that I feel there must be something more to this situation that we are not hearing.
Brad, was there anything special about your order?
