Great Planes 'Lancair ES'

This listing is for an ARF scale model originally available from Great Planes Model Mfg. and is their 80” wingspan reproduction of the ‘Lancair ES’. With extensive details readily available on the net, I’ll not repeat them here. Noteworthy though is the superbly-crafted and painted fiberglass fuselage with inlaid tinted windows, a true-to-scale long, really thin wing airfoil with flaps and molded fiberglass upswept wing tips. Under the equally impressive fiberglass cowl I’ve side-mounted a .91 c.i. four cycle glow motor. Access to the high speed needle valve in this setup is by an extension protruding out the bottom of the cowl while a fitting protruding through the top allows for choking the throttle to prime the engine. In practice, it works perfect. A custom-fabricated remote, on-board glow igniter system is incorporated and powered by a fused, 2500MaH sealed lead acid rechargeable battery that is dimensionally interchangeable with a ‘D’ sized standard flashlight battery with a connection point on the fuselage back safely away from the prop. It can be used purely for engine starting or left on during the flight for engine reliability. The design also allows for remote connection with conventional power sources like glow starters or power panels. Seven servos total are used with four in the wing and three in the fuselage. All but the rudder/nose gear servo (on which I opted to use a Hitec high torque, analogue, metal gear unit) are Futaba digital, ball bearing units and the throttle which is an analogue ball bearing unit. Electrical power is supplied by a pair of custom-fabricated A123 Lithium Ion 1100MaH packs with HD (22 AWG) leads which power the receiver and servos through twin switches for redundancy. An individual external charge port is installed for each for easy access to the packs for field charging without removing the wing and fueling is through a teardrop-shaped Robarts fueling fitting serving both fill and overflow functions. I have a complete spare wing for this model as well…just hinge the surfaces, mount the servos, setup the linkages and join it for a ready-to-go replacement. Only three flights total so far…the last of which was at last year’s Kitchener Scale Rally. The listing price for this package is $530. I am listing several prepared radio controlled fixed and rotary wing (helicopter) models on this site suggesting sell prices I regard as fair. If the interest is sincere, I will negotiate fairly such that, if common ground can be found, both parties come away from the consummated transaction feeling they’ve been treated that way. Realistically, I know I can not expect to recover anywhere near the original net cost of each but, that said, I will not entertain even for a moment offers that I deem as entirely unrealistic and motivated by pure opportunism.

Although Terrence only has 3 posts on RC Canada, I can personally vouch for the top quality of the products he is selling and his solid reputation as a vendor.

Good luck with the sale Terrence!
