SPAD Fury

After a few years, a 2000km move strapped onto the side of the truck (last minute decision to bring and not put into dumpster!) the SPAD hawker Sea Fury flew!
It has about an 84" span, weighs 16+ lbs, the fuselage is 10" in diameter at the widest, it is powered with a Poulan 46cc.

The plane is build around a piece of downspout as the 'spine' and 3/4" foam formers with the 2mm coro wrapped around. The wing uses foam ribs to help hold the aerofoil shape. I was worried about the wingspar failing as it is only 3/8 plywood with lots of lightening holes in it, but it held up durning the 2 flights it has taken.

It did fly, (like a tank!) but is no speed demon! It lifts off and lands nice and slow especially with a the flaps down. There's a few bugs to fix and it may even get a quick paint job! I don't expect this one to last long, but it was a fun project and I learned a lot and discovered lots of things that work, and don't work with coroplast building!
