Anyone flying one of these Peak Models 25%Yak55SP?

Is anyone flying one of these Peak Models 25% Yak 55 SP's? I'm thinking of getting either a Funtana 125G or this Yak 55 as an all out practice and learning plane so I don't destroy my good planes. What do you think? It will be electric powered.

Great Hobbies carries Slipstream Aircraft although a little bit bigger I think they might fill the bill. They have an Sbach, Yak 54, MX2 all are very nice planes.

Hi Charles, sorry about not making it out to the field I've been busy with Realtors looking for land and job hunting. I am going to make it to the IMAC on the 21st for sure. I've seen the planes at Great Hobbies but if I order from them I'll probably get the Funtana but I sure like the looks of that Yak 55.

Got one coming up from down south with a different colour sceam on it,its a Peak models Yak 55 SP-C type(newest one out so I'm told). I am planing on doing it up as an electric as I have the power setup for something this size and have been looking for a 68"-72" 9lb-11lb aerobatic plane.I will post when it arrives what I think of it.John

Sounds great John, looking forward to hearing about it. What are you going to use for electric power?

Going to power the Yak 55 with a Hurricane motors 63/74 200 KV motor and should be able to spin a 20/10 APCe prop on 2 x 4s4000 30c packs.Going to have to run the setup to find out for sure on the numbers but everything looks to be good.John

Re: Anyone flying one of these Peak Models 25%Yak55SP?

Well received the Yak 55 yesterday and had a looks-see and must say I would be very hard pressed to build something like this for the cost of the ARF. I believe this is of one of the older types as it has metal gear and not carbon as stated in the new adds. I did get this from a guy who bought it and didn't build it so I am the second owner of the Yak. Great hardware with all the ball links and other items as it would appear to be of high quality. Covering is what really catches ones eye as its just like the photo I posted with stripes on the underside to give good reference for top and bottom. Sorry but I'm not setup to take any photos and post at this time so no need to ask as I can't. I managed to put this thing together and have a good look at it, and it had taken only about 10 - 15 min. to do so with a very small parts count. Anyways I'm happy with the Arf and it is different type of plane from all the others out there in this size as well doing it electric makes it even more so. John

Thanks for the report John I appreciate it. Your right the website does say carbon fiber stuff so I'll have to check that out with PeakModels to make sure the plane does come with it if I order one. Still have to find out if a person is going to get charged brokerage fees and so on when it comes into Canada.

Re: Anyone flying one of these Peak Models 25%Yak55SP?

Well I have heard that they sometimes come through customs without any charges at all but with the new tax I'm not sure how it would work. The main gear is alumanim but the main spar is carbon as well not sure but the tail is a one piece and not a bolt together that I see on some of the others they sell. I would next time order direct from peaks as to make sure I would receive the latest version. I am still very pleased with the plane(second hand NIB)and for the price am very happy even if its an older version. John
