That could be a huge advantage when you read the Futaba 401 instructions

One thing you should be aware of, is that the way Finless Bob set up the 401 in his video is not the way the manual tells you to do it. The manual says that you should put the gyro in rate mode, and then adjust your linkage rod so that the helicopter will hover without rotating. Once you do that, you can then re-initialize and fly in HH mode from now on.

There is a big debate on which way is the "right" way to do the setup. Basically the answer is to set it up the way that works the best on your heli.

I just thought you should be aware of that. If you have set up your gyro according to the Finless Bob video and you are still having trouble, then you might want to try the rate mode setup instead.

Here is another good writeup that you might want to read (post #2)

Re: gyro not locking the tail

I know how to set up the 401 gyro. What confused me, is that before
my heli crashed because of a faulty channel (6). I changed a lot of parts.
And there was parts that were broken I did not know of till I showed it to a friend who has a heli-shop. He fix it up and gave it back to me with the (N)
normal setting instead of (A) in the gyro menu. I don' thave a problem with that, you know. But before the servo locked, I don't have much experience,
but I know when a servo locks or not. And now it doesn't, go figure. Same servo, same gyro. My friend's on vacation, I let him know via an e-mail.
But all is good, you know.
I'll probably get to it on friday. I'm retired but I'm replacing guys on vacation
in my part time job, after friday, back to 2 days work a week, can't wait.
Bye and thanks.
I much prefer paddles, don't you know
