Here is something to knock things into perspective.
Airshows, where do they call the flight line, I believe it is the closest edge of the runway to the audience.
So, flight line on drawing make logical sense to say from the edge of the runway. That gives you the biggest safety barrier, not from the middle do you count (no lines, curved runway?), or the opposite edge of the runway.
After all, we are a society with laws and stuff designed for maximum safety.
Please disregard if somebody stated this already.
