Jack McGillivary Maac#1025 RIP

Very Sad News for me,
Jack passed away Aug.19th.
Even though I never got to meet or fly with him, he was/is an influence on my life. He is the 'Ultimate' Free Flighter, and respected worldwide.
He became a Maac Hall of Fame member in 1993.

I am sure Jacks history will be well preserved. And his Maac Records are super intimidating to beat. If you don't think so, try it !

I always wanted to meet Jack, but he will be that next thermal I want to catch.
He will be with me...

FreeFlight is FreeFlight

R/C and C/L are easy. It is why mere mortals do it !

Rest in Peace Jack.

Take care,
Have fun,
Dave Fallowfield

Re: Jack McGillivary Maac#1025 RIP

I heard about Jack's passing from a club member who confused the passing of Jack with another well known Jack in the GTA (Think "hobby store")

After the confusion was cleared up, and I read the Bio of Jack McGillivary, I was deeply saddened by the loss of this very prolific modeler.

RIP Jack McGillivary

Re: Jack McGillivary Maac#1025 RIP

I met Jack and often saw him fly, especially Indoor later and he must be one of the nicest men I have ever had the privilege of knowing.
I admired both his craftmanship and his sportmanship and was saddened by the news.
R.I.P Jack.

Re: Jack McGillivary Maac#1025 RIP

Jack McGillivary was liked and admired by all who knew him. As an avid free flighter myself, he was one of my personal heros. He could build lighter and stronger than anyone I ever met. His craftsmanship was meticulous. Although a free flight specialist, he flew RC, designing and building incredible lightweight models.
Hundreds of people will claim to have been his friend, and rightly so. Jack was a friend to everyone he ever encountered.
With the loss of Jack, the entire modelling world suffers. He was the modellers modeller, the world class competitor, the helpful mentor, the ultimate gentleman, and one of the kindest men I ever met.
May he rest in peace and go to the heaven he deserves.
