I spoke with the people that are high up enough to know at Ircha and this is of ZERO concern in North America for a long, long time.....

With just under 1000 pilots, yes (1000) pilots flying on 2.4 at Ircha not ONE true proven incident, and every day (5) days over 100 pilots flying at once there were no issues period.

So you know "TRY" the A9 etc before buying, flame suit on I don't care but Hitecs A9 is IMO a slow ass radio period, felt like I stepped back to a 9C after flying Spektrum for last few years. No I have no sponsorship radio wise, in fact if Futaba would switch their damn small children sized switch spacing I'd be all over using their txs etc,,, but it seems they dont want to break their old mold ways there...

Re: Goodbye DSM?

With all the Bind-n-Fly DSM2 products on the market, Horizon Hobby would be stupid to abandon the DSM2 system.

2.4GHz systems have given mfg's the opportunity to create a closed system of proprietary products. IMHO, this is just smart marketing. Now it's just a question of how you leverage it and push your competition out of the picture. Horizon Hobby has been doing a great job of this with their Bind-n-Fly products. I'm sure all of us own or at least know someone with a DSM2 radio and at least one Bind-N-Fly plane/heli.

Re: Goodbye DSM?

There is no "News" in this fellow's writings.

If you read between the lines, it's a little advertisement for his reviews and a lobby to get a Japanese radio for review.

I say he's just trying to create a stir - and has succeeded to an extent.

http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/dsmj.shtml
the original review is dated way back in April and just finally made it here!!! Can't be to much of a concern.
Does not bother me so go ahead, if it makes for a better system then others will try to 'outdo' it and the wheel keeps turning with all the big guns trying to do a better job than the next.!!!

It's all about sales and money baby.

PS. I myself like the idea of INDEPENDENT testing, wish everything was like that.

Re: Goodbye DSM?

This interested me so I contacted our sale representative at Horizon Hobby and here is there official response:

This question has come up due to the recent showing of a new JR 7channel radio (XG-7) in the UK by Macgregor Industries LTD. Macgregor is the JR distributor for the UK. That radio is intended for their UK market, not the US market. Horizon is committed to the continued support of DSM2 and our customers that have invested in that technology.

Re: Goodbye DSM?

I've been using JR radios for 25 years, 10S, 10SX and now 10X's......I love their radios but am not enamored with their 2.4 technolgy so after all this time when I make the change it will be 'Hello, Futaba?'

Enjoy the child hand size spaced switches! Love Futaba radios, hate their unwillingness to keep up with the times, once the DX8 is out it is going to pound the 8fg sales and then some.
