Re: Northstar Conversion question

Been a few days since my last visit here!!! Thanks for all the replies. Between this site and RCU, there is a ton of information available for this plane. I think it is safe to say that this plane has quite a cult like following.

I actually think that we have too much weight in the nose at this time, we lose a lot of alitude in the turns, and don't seem to be able to counter it with opposite rudder input. Our CG is just ahead of the hull step.

So, we will likely leave the tank where it is, and maybe move a micro servo into the tail to control the throttle. A stiffer control rod for the elevator and a more direct path may be a good idea as well.

We don't have any wing rocking, she's as stable as can be. The existing motor is going to be 86'd and something better will be installed. Since we won't need to fly WFO all the time, maybe we can get some better run time.

With the Como 51, we are turning a MAS 10/8 and get some great airspeed.

Max, thanks for your input regarding the radio setup. We have a couple Futaba 6EXP radios that we buddy box with, so that we can take turns flying.
Didn't think of flaperons, was stuck on the elevon thing. That makes way more sense, and yes, an on off switch for that function would be must. I'm pretty sure that this radio is capable of that.

I keep reading about guys that say this plane can slow down to a crawl. I'm skeptical about that, but maybe with a good engine...

Thanks again guys.
