I Fly 3 x Futaba GY401's great! Kinetic .50, MD530-Raptor .30, X-Cell .60.
1x HK401 drifts but for $14.00 okay. Needed mods before flight. Not so okay.
1x No name hh from China $10.00 okay. Second T-rex 450.
1 x JR G270 heading hold on T-Rex 450 beautiful and easy to set up.
I have found that Gyros with remote gain are so muh easier to deal with but make sure your radio can handle remote gain. Read, Read, Read and understand how to set up the features and you will do well with name brand. Instructions that come with gyros are sometimes hard to understand. Once you have one in hand look up the forums and ask questions. Some people are good at making set up instructions simpler than the manufacturer! Make life easy on yourself and get a good radio with the functions that make heli setup easy and then familiarize yourself with all functions. Most good modellers at a club will help out. Watch for experts who are rarely an expert at anything! Good luck!

Re: Gyros

I'm glad to hear your JR G270 is working out on your 450! I'm sure it'll work just as well on my 500.

As for radios, I'm using a DX7. It's got a better heli setup side than plane side. Some guys actually use the heli side to program their plane setups so that they can use the throttle curve, which isn't present for the plane programming on that radio. I'm sure it'll do the trick.

Luckily, I have a good number of experienced heli guys to get help from. One guy has been flying helis probably as long as I've been alive.

Re: Gyros

For three of my heli's I use a DX7. I also use a DX6 (T-Rex) and an older 72MHZ JR computer 6 (Hirobo Sceado) just to see if I could make it work! The new radios are simply better. Have fun.
