The funny thing about a living language like English is that the meaning a word has can change. Whatever people use a word to mean is what it means. UFO used to mean any unidentified flying thing. Now the term UFO means "alien space ship" to most people. There is no "correct" meaning for anything except what the popular usage is. MacDonald’s unsuccessfully tried to get the term Mac Job removed from the dictionary. The publisher stated that they don't set the meaning of words, they just publish what reflects the current popular meaning. UFO means alien space ship.
