Re: whats your preference?

Hi Rob. Planes like 3D or Pattern may only appeal to a specific group or number of people. I would think you want to get something that would appeal to almost everyone, like a nice scale civilian plane or a warbird, where novice and experienced pilots alike would all enjoy having and flying it.

There are a lot of nice planes that fit into this category available. A J3 Cub, a Super Decathelon, Spacewalker, etc etc. As for war birds any number of models would nicely suffice. There are also many electric packages available for reasonable cost these days that are RTF.

As for ticket price, a lot will depend on how many people you expect to come to the swap meet. If only 50 people are expected to show up, and only about half at best would buy a ticket, you'd be hard pressed to break even at $5.00 per ticket. However if perhaps 250 people come and half buy a ticket then $3.00 a ticket or 2 for $5.00 would be reasonable to expect your club to break even on the purchase, if that's what you're hoping to do!

So first off, try to estimate how many will come to the meet, how may of those would it be reasonable to assume will buy a ticket and then go from there in setting a price for each ticket or the price for 2 tickets or more, etc! And try to figure it so that you will at least break even and not putting the club in the hole for your efforts.

Raffels are a nice draw for such events. However you want it to be successful and not a drain on the club's coffers. If you think about it and recon that only 40 or 50 people will show up, then it may be more equatable to do something like a couple of 50/50 draws where you are gauranteed a return for the club.

All the best my friend and I wish you success with your Swap Meet!
