Thanks for the suggestion. The gear is swept forward.

Washers are ideal.

The reversing of the gear is ok BUT only as long as they are just a straight leg. If they have the little "curl" in them you don't want the curl in front. It has to be on the rear.

Otherwise, the "spring" that the curl provides is gone and the wire will just bend back permanently on landing.

It's probably just the grass. Our new field is on a sod farm and the grass is super thick. Even the 30% and larger planes don't have an easy time taxiing on that thick carpet of sod.

Even with 4" wheels on my 50cc Sukhoi it is hard to taxi and I don't have the wheels pants on it. I almost have to harrier land it to keep it from nosing over and the plane is setup closer to slightly tail heavy.

Thick grass is just hard to fly off.

Very strong suggestion:

You will be sorry if you do.

The problem is that once bent, aluminum gear legs get weak. Then they bend again, with almost no effort to an undesireable position. You bend them back and they get weaker and bend on their own again, which makes them weaker yet. And so on.

Once bent, they are essentially trash, whether that bend is from you deliberately or from operations.

If your budget would allow, a carbon fiber gear would be better than the aluminum. The snag we have is that as manufactured, most of that Eastern origin aluminum stuff is weak. To compensate, the gear is made thicker (and heavier) without gaining any real additional strength.

I always thought that the general rule of thumb re. proper placement of the main wheels on a tail dragger was as follows. Stand behind the wing in a position that enables you to look directly down on the front/leading edge of the wing. From there, you should be able to see at least half of the wheels. I fly off thick grass myself which at times is long and always made sure I could see more than half the wheel. I think at the stage you are at now, having changed to larger wheels and removed your wheel pants that thick and possibly long grass is definitely playing a role in your problem. Is it possible to cut the grass shorter? If not, you had better try and move your wheels out farther by angling your landing gear appropriately. As advised - stay away from bending it. . .Good luck!

Re: 26% Cap 232- Super Kraft. Need advice

No guarantee about "seeing half the wheels" to prevent nose overs.. I've got a chip that the wheels are 100% forward of the L.E. and it still tends to nose over. Just the nature of the chip I guess.

And the other comment about "bending" the gear? Yeah, once they've been bent, they bend the other way easier and easier. Try not to if you can help it.
