1/18th Scal Indoor Beaver!!

I came ot a point in building that I was sitting waiting for my next project.
Our club flies indoors for the winter, I have just messed around with my Align 450 heli, but wanted an AIRPLANE!
I just can't wrap my head around foamies, and the prices they charge. I use 72mhz radios, so the new stuff out, all being 2.4, is no choice for me.
I decided to make my favorite plane from balsa I already had as an experiment to see how light I could get.
I used the plans from my Unionville Beaver 72", scaled down drawings to give a 24" wingspan, simplified the layout and went ahead.
The first thing I realized is just how hard it can be to work on something this small!! Ham fisted moves are not allowed here
I believe I can keep the AUW under 5ozs, actually hoping for 4ozs. The accessories, like motor/esc/servos had my head spinning trying to sort thru the requirements. I'm used to picking systems that make 300-2000 watts, but scatched my head trying to get a package together for 25-40 watts
The pictures here show the process, weight as it sits is 1.35ozs an I'll use 4 channels, sorry NO flaps on this one!!flytwice

Re: 1/18th Scal Indoor Beaver!!

Big delay on finishing this Beaver. I screwed up the aileron hookup, had vitually no ail movement. Most of the plane is covered, new arm for aileron servo installed, but stopped there to continue my Hawker Hurricane build.
We have temporarily lost our big gym to fly in while our club waits for MAAC to send us the 2011 Ins waiver (they won't let us fly without a copy)- yeah, I know!!
I'll get back to this little "b......r" soon! flytwice
