Re: P-40 140size converted to gas

I thought I was going to get lucky with the gear as they fit in perfectly,, Not a chance The entire gear bay had to be greatly reinforced. Mucho Balsa blocks everywere and a lot more glue than what was on there. If the plane were even lucky enough to taxie the way it was, for sure the gear would have gone right thru the top of the wing on the first landing.

I managed to get one retract in last night after returning from flying all day.

My J-tec Muffler showed up today Looks like it will fit in cowl perfectly(uh oh! I said that about the gear)

Re: P-40 140size converted to gas

I had to replace blocks with thick plywood and reinforced the area using carbon fiber cloth.
This was on my CMP 71" Zero.

Re: P-40 140size converted to gas

moving right along. The muffler fits nicely. The gear works perfect. All servos in and attached. The motor is now installed for the last time.

Just need to:
Add wing pins and bolts
Attach fuel lines and install tank
Hook up Opto-kill switch
Attach bottom wing cowl and fuel tank.
Attach 500lb bombs
Ballance the prop, and spinner together with the VBR
Paint the darn thing.

I have given absolutly no thought to what paint scheam to go with. Its either all olive drab or the two tone Tiawane scheam.

Anybody have any Ideas for an interesting paint job..
Please dont bother to mention the Pink one. It aint going to happen
