As a 60 yr old, I shouldn't be climbing a lot of trees but, when a grandson's bird hangs up what's a fellow supposed to do. My "fondest" memory is of flying in Arizona (near Casa Grande) where there is a lovely gathering of thorned trees. They not only capture your plane but spike it to prevent retrieval! Even at head height, it took forever to pull the thorns out of the fabric and hold them out while I cleared the rest. A considerable recovering job was in order.

Some might say that anyone who gets to fly in AZ. deserves to have to do a little work! I'm not one of those people though!

Re: Have you ever?

Fellow flier parked one about 60 ft. in the top of a tree. Poles wouldn't do it as it was well stuck. Took my trusty electric chainsaw out and wacked it down. Wasn't damaged other than when it hit the tree. The tree was in a place where we do trailer parking so it was no great loss. My old beater Twist 3D 40 has 3 conifers and 2 evergreens painted on the side.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.

Re: Have you ever?

My HZ Super Cub got caught in a huge pine on my 3rd flight with it when I first started flying. Luckily I'm a decent climber. 30 feet or so up in the tree I realized I couldn't reach it. Had to go back to the truck and then re-climb the tree with a pole in hand to poke the plane out.
