1/2 A electric starters

This topic comes up once in a while and is often dismissed
as not req'd because if you know your stuff you shouldnt need
a starter for a Cox or Norvel.
Or that you'll ruin the front bearing.
Well I often threaten to quit 1/2 A because they are so cantankerous,
then they will start and cut my fingers!
I have lots of experience, and part of my problems stem from using
oversize props, to cut down the nerve wracking 1/2 A whine.
Any ideas here ?

Re: 1/2 A electric starters

Fresh fuel, good glow plug and recommended prop size there should'nt be too many issues in starting these little engines. Once the engine is tuned and you have a good run try and leave the high speed alone. Works for me!
Never used a 1/2A starter ever.

Re: 1/2 A electric starters

We used starters all the time during c/l combat and never had any issues..not too much different from running in a pusher configuration. Ebay regularly has 1/2 A starters come up for sale. Also this item is a good idea
