Hi folks, does anyone use the battery share modules in thier aircraft and are they a good investment?
My other question is can a person make his own on-board glow system.
I'd like to get one but they are pretty pricey.

Thank you,

Smile Re: Battshare and On-board Glow systems

I've made about 8 of these "on board'" glow circuits (Not Battshare types) from parts that are very cheap to buy. Attached is a .pdf file to use to build it. If you can make a printed circuit board, you can make these. It plugs into your receiver ---- throttle channel or another channel slaved to the throttle so you can turn it off if you want. This one uses a separate single cell (2000 to 3000mah size) for the glow plug so it doesn't drain the receiver pack as a "battery share module" system. This works very well, but I've found this particular one doesn't work well with a 5 cell receiver battery pack. I haven't investigated a modification to the circuit to use a 5 cell pack, so I've just used a voltage regulator to supply 5.1 to 5.4 volts to the receiver and still have the extra "capacity" of the 5 cells.
DigiKey is a good source for parts, but I've also bought stuff from Newark in London, Ontario. Here's a link to them ---------

* I can't seem to load the .pdf file because it's too large according to the messages when trying to do so. If you want, I can e-mail it to you. **
