Re: newbie question

40 or 60 sized refers to .40 or .60 cubic inch engines. .40-sized are smaller than .60 sized.

Most training aircraft are in the .40 to .50 engine size.

Re: newbie question

Hi backatu, welcome to the hobby. I hope you will enjoy it. I have been enthralled with RC for well over 40 years and probably will never stop.
I will offer you an opinion though. It is my opinion and some may disagree with it. While these online sites are good places to add to your knowledge They are not the best source of the basic information you need when you start the hobby. I think that the best place for you to learn the basics, learn to fly and begin to get totally engrossed in the hobby , is to join a local RC club. In the club you will find folks who are qualified to teach you the things that will give a good background for latter success. They enjoy doing this and it is free (except for the club membership).
To find a club go to a local hobby store or go here:
There is a list of clubs in a drop down menu. Enjoy RC, it is the best and most all encompassing hobby that exists.

Re: newbie question

I'll add a welcome, as well. This hobby can provide a lifetime opportunity to learn and have fun.

Also would like to ask if you could narrow down your location.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!
