EC3 or EC5?

at what point do you have to switch to the larger connectors?
i will be running 2 3cell 30c 4000 packs together and a few 6c 5000 packs with a 80amp esc and i was going to use my trusty EC3 connectors but I'm wondering if they will take the current. your thoughts?

Re: EC3 or EC5?
Anything 6S and up with a MAH higher then 2600mah ONLY use EC5 for 100% sure. On anything smaller I use XT60 connectors also a great alternative for the ec3 sized products.
Best savings on EC5 is from Hobby King, it's about the only thing I buy there but I'll buy 50-100 pairs at a time and it is less then half then from anywhere else.
EC3 connectors will not safely handle over 6S 2600 and 30C+, they simply can not deliver the amp/watt throughput.
Once upon a time there were Nitros, Flybars & Frequency pins

Re: EC3 or EC5?
EC3 is rated to 60A continuous but there is numerous accounts of them taking 80A without issues, however that doesn't mean that you should, If you are going to be running more than 60A I would use the larger EC5 connectors. Chances are that at that amperage you are using a plane that will not be affected by the connector size.
Also in regards to the thread that was just posted, the individual that seemed to have issues with EC5's also mentioned using plumbers flux. I would venture to say that he had some issues due to using plumbers flux as it is acid based and not designed for use in electronics. For any soldering in RC you should use a rosin flux core solder wire
