Re: Worldtex covering

Nitrate dope is not fuel proof. Butyrate is. I have noticed that some of the 4s oils will soften it. Polyurethane is fuel proof, can take up to 30 days to fully cure. Most of the over counter spray bombs enamels are fuel proof, again same cure time.

Re: Worldtex covering

I've used Varathane Crystal Clear Waterborne Diamond Wood Finish for the past 3 years on combat planes with good success. As Kip stated, it takes several weeks for these products to cure. Probably the best " fuel proof " coating would be and Epoxy finishing resin. I class all of the other products as " fuel resistant ".

Re: Worldtex covering

I used Nelson's two part water based system with the covalent additive which makes it as fuel proof as butyrate dope. Nelson is in transition, but I believe Warbird color paints offers the same or very similar stuff. I loved the Nelsons on my Aeronca. Good luck, Dzl
