HI all, I will be one of six pilots, representing Canada, going to the World Jet Masters in Dayton Ohio, from July 24th to August 6th.
It would be nice to see some other Canadian spectators, down their, it"s a chance of a life time to see the best scale pilots in the world, in our neighbors back yard. Plus their will be open flying in the evenings.
Each Pilot has his own team of helpers, junior supporters and senior supporters.
My team will be looking for contributions, a $100 ,will get the supporter a free Thunderbird, 1/6th scale Pilot.

Re: Wjm

Good luck - I really wanted to go myself but could not get the time off work or get my wife to approve the massive amount of funds needed for hotel etc. But I will gladly contribute to the team... it's going to take a LOT of money!

I have emailed Martin a few times re: helping get some corporate sponsors. If the team is interested I'm sure I can raise some funds...

Re: Wjm

If Kelly could maybe let us know if there is MAAC funding available for this event. Please correct me if I am wrong is Pattern and Pylon still getting funding? I may and try and see if our Zone rep has any answers on this.

Re: Wjm

Hey Guys,

Been a couple months since I've been active on RCC. Work's been a tad extreme over the holiday season and early 2011. Apologies ahead of time for no article appearing in the soon to be delivered MAAC Mag. I had to put my effort into the annual report and drafting the LOP update plans instead, hope you all understand.

Anyhow to answer the funding question I'm not aware of any request or discussions along those lines. I was under the impression that Martin had volunteered to run every aspect of the WJM team, so perhaps he would be better to comment here. He may have looked into funding options, but I don't remember hearing anything on my end.

One quick comment on the LOP update, since I know it was also a concern for some pilots wanting to attending the WJM. First to be clear, what I'm about to state is not binding in any way until voted on. That said, I've gone through a great deal of feedback and have a 1st draft of the recommended process and requirements very close to being distributed for committee discussion and vote. Amendments at the committee level could take some time, but I'm optimistic that the entire process will be finalized and voted on within Q1 2011, well before the WJM. I don't want this sub-topic to risk hijacking the thread so please email / PM me if you have any further questions / concerns on this front.

Re: Wjm

Kelly, you have heard of the expression (if it ain"t broke, don"t fix it).
Please explain to all us jet pilots, why we are involved in more rules.
Also, the pilots that are involved in the WJM, have a lot on the table, money and time, getting ready for July.
I sure hope you don"t put a unexpected twist on our progress.

LOP = Letter of Proficiency

This letter is granted by the MAAC committee chairman to MAAC pilots who wish to travel to the US and fly at AMA fields without an AMA turbine wiaver. MAAC has an agreement from AMA that they will accept the LOP as an equivalent to an AMA turbine waiver.

If you have no intentions of flying in the US, you do not need an LOP, however, the existing process has lots of flaws that need to be corrected and this is being done.

Re: Wjm

Will the amended LOP have any affect on pilots that already have a one.
