Re: Joe Nall / B-29 Piloting

Youtube froze on me and I couldn't watch much of it. I wonder if that's Carl Bachuber. Helped him with his C119 at the Chatham Scale Rally.

Re: Joe Nall / B-29 Piloting

The pilot is Mac Hodges flying at the Joe Nall in Woodruff, S.C. (I recognize the background), I have seen him fly there several times as well as at Top Gun in FL.

He does stuff with the B-29 that you will see in the old WW II movies, but the ones in the movies doing that stuff are usually suffering battle damage and on their way down.

In the beginning he will have a model of the X1 slung under the aircraft, and it will drop and glide down (with the aid of a second pilot), and before touchig down, the rocket will light off sending the X1 skyward again

I believe that is Mac Hodges airplane .
The engine is the heart of an airplane , but the pilot is it's soul .

Definitely the Mac Hodges aircraft. Stop the playback at 5:55 and you'll see the X-1.
