This is an airplane I like but cant stand that nose skid, after stumbling across a photo in
"125 Years of Canadian Aeronautics A Chronology 1840-1965" Fuller, Griffin and Molson Published by the Canadain Aviation Historical Society
http://www.biblio.com/9780920610022 (ordered my own copy cheap)
I submitted an inquiry to the Canada Aviation Museum
"According to the Windsock Datafile #28 an order was put into the Canadian Aeroplane Ltd. in July of 1918 for 500 Avro 504's. The company redesigned the airframe to accept detail fittings of the Curtiss JN 4 to minimize the need for new tooling and the first 504K was delivered in October 1, 1918. It had a 130hp Clerget 9B engine and a distinctively revised undercarriage with three-legged struts. Only one other aircraft was built before production ceased at Armistice."
That must have been a bit of engineering to adapt JN4 fittings
here it is.........much nicer looking airplane without the lumber out front

Re: Avro 504 without nose skid
Thanks for the info, looks like some farther study needed. Nice to build as an electric powered model.
