Im thinking the motor. In my case 25A continuous right?
Plan for the highest amount of current. 40 amp burst will fry a smaller ESC. Amps are determined by the user, the motor. The ESC is what controls everything. I always use a bigger than recommended ESC. I'm not that good of a flier that a little extra weight will be noticed. If I build something with all the recommended electrics, then I will use the correct ESC, but if I'm doing something on my own, I will use the next size up.

If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

Re: New motor help B400

The load placed on the motor by the drive train of the helicopter dictates the load. A given gear, blade, wieght, battery combination will demand a certain amount of amps from the battery in order to accomplish flight. In helicopters it is difficult to take a reading in order to determine amp draw at hover and then even more difficult to tell during aerobatic flight without some sort of telemetry. Most of us rely on the pros to determine that a 35 amp speed control is more than enough for learning and general flying and light aerobatics. When you get to hard 3D etc., first you determine whether the heli will stay together then you look at power systems ie. batteries, motors and speed controls . Look at the X-Cell Furion sometime and compare it to the Blade 400 and you will see how strong and light it is. The airframe alone costs more than most ARF helis.

thanks Cougar. All is running good and nowhere near 3D flight. What I have is more than adequate for my application. Thanks everyone.
