Amazing! I remember one of those on the last page of Model Airplane News a number of years ago. Wondered if the concept was still around. Thanks!

I am trying to figure out how to hook up my Rossi .60 to it! That is amazing! I can foresee many variations to the design.

Re: Fan Wing anyone?

I saw that on Daily planet last year. It was really cool how it flew. But given that the lift is coming from the Magnus effect, then anything that causes the squirrel cage fan to stop means that you are not going to have much of a glide-slope! Those fan bearings are doing a lot of spinning! LOL. From an engineering standpoint, the simplicity of a fixed wing design compared to the complexities of this design mean there is a lot of unnecessary friction points. One could argue that a helicopter also has a lot of friction points as well, but at least a helicopter uses these negatives to gain the ability to hover. I don't think the fanwing can hover, at least not that I have seen or read so far.

Still, its a cool idea. Only time will tell if there is a market for this kind of innovation
