RC Equipment

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!

My father, Pierre Sigouin passed away recently and he has probably the equivalent of a hobby shop of airplanes (New kits in boxes, engines (Gas / Electric and ducted fan and also a real Jet Turbine Engine 20lbs of thrust etc...) the list goes on and on.

I am looking for suggestions as to how to sell all this gear (I will be picking through it of course!!).

Any suggestions will be appreciated!!

Re: RC Equipment

I would use this site, the classifieds work well. Also try your local HS and flying club.

Re: RC Equipment

I think listing it on here would be a good start and list it on your local kijjii; both free. The only thing is if you list everything at once on here you will be swamped with PM's .

Re: RC Equipment

sorry to hear of your loss.

breaking it up into groups may help in the sale. you could group engines, radios, tools etc into small "lots" to help avoid the "can I just buy this and not that" emails that are sure to happen.
aircraft can be sold one at a time.

3 or 4 engines to a "lot" with photos will work of they are smaller engines, larger engines may be better to list alone aswell.

Hope this helps.

Re: RC Equipment

Hold a garage sale.

Put a list together of the main stuff and send it to the local clubs with an advert. See if you can find someone experienced to help out.

Re: RC Equipment

Contact your local R/C Club first quite often they will know someone who will buy the whole works. Your local hobby shop might know.

Re: RC Equipment

When I was in the business I liquidated 4 or 5 estates for the families and found that taking a bit of time and not selling it all as one package is the way to go.

There has been some good advice offered in earlier threads but I'll repeat them, find an experienced modeler that knows what the stuff is worth to give you a hand or enlist one of the local shops your father used to frequent to help you out with the liquidation.

You will get the vultures circling and making ridiculous offers, ignore them, just take your time, stay firm and in the end you should do o.k.

My condolences on the loss of your father.
