OS 61 exhaust/muffler

I am building a Marutaka Cessna 182. Engine mounting is on hardwood rails placing the engine inverted. As the nose is quite large I am stumped on a muffler for this application.
Does anyone know of a muffler model which will fit an OS 61 mounted inverted?

Re: OS 61 exhaust/muffler

Not sure on the muffler, but perhaps Bisson may have some suggestions.

A few pointers I wanted to make for inverted mounting if you have not done so before was to :

A) Install an OS "F" type plug to prevent overcooling at lower throttle settings.

B) Make sure the carb is aligned with the horizontal centerline of the tank or you can get into mixture and fuel siphoning problems.

C) Flip the motor by hand before applying glow heat and trying to start to ensure the cylinder has not loaded with fuel/oil and hydrolocked. This can be aggravated by item B.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!

Re: OS 61 exhaust/muffler

I caution you about putting an aftermarket on an OS engine. It lowers the back pressure so low they will not draw fuel. Some guys plug one of the pipes.
