Re: Gift wrapping anyone?

I haven't tried it, but have looked at it many times and wondered how to glue it on. We used to be able to buy a mylar type film with a peel off backing that would just stick to the wood without ironing.(pressure sensitive) pretty much like scotch tape but in a big roll. It was clear and worked great for control line combat. Covering a plane was super fast. When the ribs would break they would stick to the film. I don't know why it isn't available anymore. That was in the 1970's. It was cheaper than most other coverings too. Maybe there is a laminating type film cheap that is bigger than a notebook size. As far as the dollar store film maybe a double sided tape on the trailing edge, and wrap the film around and double side tape again at trailing edge? I found some two faced tape at an EFAD(everything for a dollar) store that was very thin like scotch tape but double sided. The peel off backing was ticher than the tape. I was going to use it on a coroplast plane, It seemed fairly strong for that, but would likely be best for the films. You may need to seal it for fuel planes. I don't know about the spray contact glues, $14 a can and then it goes bad in my experience. Do some testing and see, maybe someone else has some better ideas to share.
