Have anyone used the Avery Clear decal sheets?

I bought a pack of 6 clear decal sheet. Of the opinion that they have sticky back, print and peel off. Product # 03276/

I am lost now, I created the images, printed it on the side the image supposed be on, and I don't know what to do.

How do I transfer the image to my plane?

Thx,

Alex

Alex,

You need to open a beer and then peel the backing and stick the decal to the plane.
After that, you may coat it with waterbased polyeurathane clear to help fuelproof it.

Re: Have anyone used the Avery Clear decal sheets?

Cassat,

I tried very hard before posting the question. I swear that there is no sticky backing.

But after reading your post, I went and had a beer, as a matter of fact, I had a few instead.

You are absolutely right, indeed, there is a backing, all I needed is a steady hand to cut the image off the sheet, but I am happy now.

Question, do I have to do this every single time? It is getting to be a very expensive exercise, but I like it, I like it a lot as one of the beer commercial put it.

Thx,

Alex

Amazing what having a beer, relaxing sitting back, effect can have on one.

Re: Have anyone used the Avery Clear decal sheets?

Check the package. It should be a peel-and-stick setup. What I used on my SAPAC Gripen wanna-conversion. I used mine to create the serial numbers, national markings and the Back-to-Baddeck logo.

Worked pretty well until I got the plane into the rain and then found that my printer's ink isn't water-proof.

Went looking for the package but couldn't find it so I can't give you the Avery product number. Lots of other threads here on TCG that dover the same stuff, so do a search or look at the bottom of the page for "related threads"

Over your decal, you may want to try painting on a thin layer of Minwax Polyacrylic. That will seal the decals.

I use it on my that I print out on plain paper then glue them onto my foamies. Works good, but just do not run your brush over it too many times otherwise it may start blurring.

Re: Have anyone used the Avery Clear decal sheets?

I've used the same Avery product, gloss and mat, and had great luck with the printing process, but failed miserably when I tried to seal it with any type of clear coat . For some reason everything that I tried, including water and solvent based spray clear varathanes and "photo" fix type sprays from different manufactures, would cause the inkjet ink to bleed. I understand that decals produced by laser type printers don't suffer the same fate.

Re: Have anyone used the Avery Clear decal sheets?

I've found Testors clear spraybombs will waterproof without bleeding.
