I have a Carbon-Z YAK 54 with an
· Motor: E-flite BL25 Brushless Outrunner Motor 1000 Kv,
· ESC: E-flite® Pro 60A brushless with Switch-Mode BEC, Receiver,
· Radio: Spektrum™ AR600 – 6 channel sport receiver,
· Battery: 4S 14.8V 2800mAh 30C Li-Po
PROBLEM: The throttle has a dead spot at the beginning of the throttle travel. It has to be advanced at least 1/8 of the travel before the motor starts to turn. Can get around this by advancing my throttle trim to where it will start the motor, then backing off a bit. Now there is no throttle dead spot and motor speed control seems normal.
QUESTION: Is this a problem with the ESC calibration and if so how do I calibrate this ESC?

Re: ESC Calibration
Your ESC is probably fine. Adjust the end points in your transmitter for the throttle channel.

Re: ESC Calibration
I calibrate my throttle by first pushing the throttle all the way to 100%, then I plug the flight battery into the model, when the systems powers up there are usually two beeps. Immediately move the throttle to 0% and there should be another beep to confirm the throttle range has been set. The ESC should then emit the regular arming tones.
Now you have the ESC set to use the full throttle range.
This may not work for all models of ESCs. They do work for all of the ones sold by Hobbyking, some E-flite and RCtimer ESCs.
