Here's an interesting fact:

The New Bright Slicks rear tires are a direct fit onto the HPI Cup Racers wheels. You can stretch them onto the Tamiya "M" series wheel. Why would this help you? Well if you get some fiberglass and cut out a pan car chassis to size. then just mount all the components.

Here's a link to some pictures I took of my Tamiya M04M with them on.

Re: looking to upgrade some cheap rc cars

To the OP,

Not sure if you got the answer you were looking for but basically, you can't just drop in a radio receiver with most toy grade rc's. What drives me crazy, because I own a few for my 5 yr old, is the fact that they use motors for steering... and ya, all left or all right. I started to look at converting it to hobby grade but one look at the all plastic chassis and components stopped me.

Some great deals to be had at flea auctions and garage sales.

Re: looking to upgrade some cheap rc cars

I had a "toy grade" 4x4 truck that I convert from AA to a battery pack and did some other mods to. I didn't spent a ton of money. I purpose built it for running in snow. It was a cheap truck (but 4x4) that most people wouldn't care about but was a blast every winter. It finally gave in last winter. Hmmm I might have to replace that thing. If you are not going to spend a lot of money then have fun but no when to draw the line.
