This is the Bell 500 fuselage I got from Hobbyking. I also got a 5 blade rotor head which I am finally putting together. I tried flying it with 2 blade, but didn't look scale. But before going that route, do practice with the simulator, and get yourself some training gear for the 450 pro. It does react quickly to stick movement as compared to a few other clones I have. My 450 Sport is on the bench right now. Tail hit the ground when I let a battery run down too low. Old battery, my fault.

I read in another forum (can't find it now), that someone had problems fitting a 450 Pro inside the Bell fuselage. Something about the servo positions. I had to move my tail servo closer to the frame in order to fit. The kits comes with a longer servo rod.

Re: Purchase Help

It's been a very long time since I put my 500E together (before the 450Pro was in existance), so I can't comment on the Pro. But the TREX450 clones fit reasonably easily. A Beam required lots of modification.

Before you put your 5-bladed head on, search through RunRyder and DaddyHobby for "Super-Hornet" and you will see his posts on what he needed to do to make it work.

For mine, I basically did his modifications, plus to make it more scale, the mains rotate CCW and the tail is on the 'correct' side.

One other thing I shall say about the kit is that the magnets may seem quite strong one the canopy (mine was a HeliArtist), but the canopy is the first thing that gets destroyed when you have a less then gentle landing and the canopy pop's off and then hits the main blades while rotating at full speed. Already destroyed one 500D fuselage because of this.

Re: Purchase Help

There is lots of good information in the md500 thread further down. I have tried 3 different sets of mechanics in the body you have in the picture - made by MKS? I think about 45 bucks from HK?
The pro guts fit perfectly
