Never thought i would say this, but it is just too hot to go to the field. i get absolutely no pleasure standing there in +34. Supposed to be +37 (+47 with the humidity) in Hamilton tomorrow. The New Year's Funfly seemed like yesterday and I was waiting for this. be careful what you wish for....... the band I am in is playing at the Elvis Festival in Collingwood this weekend. Really hard to play/fly when the sweat is dripping in your eyes.... john

Re: Too Hot To Fly

Yes, I agree with you, the heat makes it hard to do things. Here in NW Ont we have been fighting the heat and humidity for a few days. What we have been doing is get up early and go in the morning before the heat really starts climbing. You can get at least 3-4 good flights before it gets too hot. Also, since it stays light enough to fly till about 9-10pm, go after supper when the heat starts to let up a bit. Between flights, go stand under some shade and drink lots of water, wear a hat or sweat band to help with the sweat, and finally bath in bug dope so the blackflies and deer/horse flies don't carry you away.

Happy flying

Re: Too Hot To Fly

When it is this hot, Float flying is where its at!!.

Put on your swim trunks, TX on neck strap and wade into the water until it is waist deep.

Then fly!

There are some beaches here in lake simcoe where you can wade out about 100M and still be waist deep. I have many fond memories of being out there on scorching hot days, comfortable in the water and doing touch-and-goes with my float plane right in front of myself. Ahhh......

Ha! Saturday mornings are for my jogging clinic, 8km last Saturday.
Then bike riding with the kid in the afternoons during the week.
Rain was forecast - several times - still none.

Re: Too Hot To Fly

I have to reply to this. In BC we are suffering with too much cloud and rain. I was flying yesterday when there was a few drops of rain coming down and I was wearing a light jacket.
I'll trad you for some sunshine for a day or six.

Re: Too Hot To Fly

I went pole walking with the ladies this morning in Port Credit. We did 8K. There was a slight breeze by the lake . I was REAL sweaty after that workout.

Re: Too Hot To Fly

I went fishing the last two days. Yesterday was pretty comfortable for fishing but would've been perfect for flying! There was almost no wind! Today, it was almost too windy to enjoy fishing and it wouldn't have been great flying, either.
