You ever experience signal loss, signal fade, brown out, etc?

What brand of system are you using when having these problems?

Re: Signal Loss Poll

Darrel, be fair. Start a poll on how many pilots like me that are having zero problems with their J.R./Spectrum installations. Yes installations. I fly 12 out of my 23 R/C aircraft using this technology. Never a brownout, or hold.
Are you using a datalogger? What kind of readings are you getting?
Are you using low impedance cells? Redundant dual power systems?
Are you installing any of your main, or satellite antenas parrallel to line of flight?

There is more to a proper installation that just shoehorning a receiver into an airframe, and expecting great results.

This is not a personal rant at you. But how many times do we hear these comments.
There are a tremenduos amount of DSM systems out there working perfect. The people that have problems, keep having problems. The people who have success, keep having success.

Re: Signal Loss Poll

Great idea to have a detail orientated poll, please feel free to do one.

I was just looking for a basic outlook, nothing more at this point, and that is fair.

I have seen polls as to which systems one use, but that is about it, nothing on the success ratings. So many here are posting problems, so lets do a poll.

Re: Signal Loss Poll

Absolutely - JR with AR700 rx's - never a brownout, never a problem
Can't see what purpose this type of survey could possibly be.

Re: Signal Loss Poll

I use JR, with both JR rx's and Spectrum rx's. Some planes have one Rx, some have two or more Rx's. I take care when setting up an installation, use MORE than adequate battery capacity, and have never had a glitch, twitch or brown-out etc.

Spectrum DX6i and 3-AR500 rxs----never a problem, powered by 3s lipos and bec

Hitec 2.4 and 8-Optima rxs----never a problem, powered by 2s LifePo batteries

You can fly Hitec or use the other "low tech" stuff!!

Re: Signal Loss Poll

I fly Futaba. Have been for more than thirty years. Nine different systems as technology, features and personal needs changed: AM > FM > FM narrow band > PCM 1024 > PCM 2048 > 2.4 FASST. Never had a glitch, a failure, a loss of signal or brownout.

FM/PCM no issues
2.4 no issues
On 2.4 I have never had an issue with brown out or fades
On 2.4 I have used a data logger to check never found any issues.

Re: Signal Loss Poll

Had issues on the dx8, but all is great after got it back from the recall. After looking at the poll and seeing how many people are using JR and Spektrum, is it possible that just a few number of TX that were bad? It seems to me that with all the radios sold some are going to be bad, just statistically anyways. I know they did replace a bridge rectifier on my radio so it is possible that there was a bad batch.
