muffler install gms 47 /

i am working on a Cherokee arf.
almost done but i have installed the engine , inverted ,
i used a muffler spacer to get clearance .
but when it is all in place there is not enough room to tighten the muffler studs .
dont want to drill holes in the nose..
any ideas ???????

In some cases I have shortened an allen wrench to be able to fit the application. Otherwise drilling is pretty much the only option. The hole has to be only large enough to fit the wrench diameter and is really not that obvious.
With the engine inverted there are much more important considerations. Tank height needs to be adjusted so the tank centerline is even with the carb. Another good mod is to use an OS "F", (four stroke) plug as it prevents the plug from cooling too much at low throttle and consequent engine failure.
You should also make it a normal procedure to flip the motor over by hand before starting, (without glow heat applied) to ensure no fuel/oil has collected in the cylinder to create hydrolock. If you hit it with a starter right off the bat you risk damaging the internals of the motor.
