Picked up a PAW on Ebay a short time ago & was looking for a fuel source in Canada , on luck. The manual that came with the engine said equal part,s either & kerosene[parafin] 30% castor & a splash of amylnitrite.I had read somewhere that a automotive diesel fuel adative can be used & not having amylnitrite added some of the only one at the local store.Mixed this up & put the engine on a test stand.Took a while but found the correct mix of compression & needle valve & away it went.Brought back a lot memory,s of the old contlol line days with the smell of either & burnt castor.I will install this engine on a flightstreek this winter & see if I can remember how to fly control line. Then maybe fly the Nobler currently under construction. It was a lot of fun seeing a diesel run again.Anybody with a better fuel mix if you can post it I would appriciate it.This mix ran but is a little hard starting.

Re: Diesel,s

Sounds like you are doing it right - I can't get them to run at all!
Hang time does not apply to ceiling fans, light fixtures, overhead door tracks or basketball nets!

Re: Diesel,s

If you know someone with a heart problem Amyl-Nitrate is often given on prescription. Add approx 2%. Amyl-Nitrite can also be used. Also try to get aviation grade kerosene.

Try this guy //....http://www.cafes.net/doctordiesel/ Don't know if he ships to Canada.

Re: Diesel,s

You can use Amsoil diesel CETANE boost additive instead of amyl nitrate. It is 100% ethyl hexyl nitrate. you can get ether from anachemia canada
it's expensive but available. If you have a us postal adress, you can buy fuel from Davis diesel, but you can't get it shipped to Canada.
You can also use john deere starter fluid (the one that has 85% ether) but you need to bleed off the pressure to get the ether out and you don't end up with 100% ether, but it works.
there are many fuel mixes to use. Got to the PAW site to see the recommended mixes.
You might want to get the DR Diesel book from Eric clutton-see previous response. Very good resource.
