Trev,

Trying building a Carden STOCK for once and you'd be as efficient as Lee.

Lee's other advantage is he doesn't have as much commentary help as you do on your threads so he can concentrate on building rther then banterring back and forth. You can thank me later for that Lee!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Things slowed down a bit while I finished up the bottom sheeting on the fuse. I will be cutting out lightening holes later and the 1/4 sheeting on the m box isn't being glued on until the wings are done, but everything is cut out. I will now concentrate on the wings and horiz. stabs for the next few weeks in preparation for sheeting. Actually it won't take that long as the rudder/vert fin are already sheeted, and the stabs will get done early next week.
Todays pics are the bottom of the fuse and the servo wire conduits glued in. Also working out the mounts for the MTW 110 cannisters, and finalizing the tunnel work.
I figured out a great way to do the cowl halves but that will have to wait a bit!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Last night I glued the balsa caps on all the phenolics in prep to gluing them in the stabs and wings. I was going to throw out all the foam shucks then noticed a dent in my new fuse bottom deck So I now have the shucks pressed onto the bottom of the fuse to protect it as I work on the wings. Good protection!
We're off to Toronto to see the kids this weekend so two whole days of no building...already going into withdrawal! I'm having so much fun I will feel quite empty once this baby is done. Brendan....

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

All that soft balsa, you barely have to look at it to dent or scratch it.

Yep, I did the same thing with my shucks. I'm still using the belly pan shuck for working on other planes and as a cradle for my 50cc Yak.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Back from a great trip to Toronto to see the kids and spending lots on parking! Last night I got back to the project and got the phenolics glued in after doing a little planning. Not sure how others do this but you'll see in the pics the socket support and spar reinforcers that I notched to lock in together in the wing. The spar stiffeners are also notched so the wing tube is locked in at the far end. I really like the way this locks in the whole tube assembly, but I will also be adding a full length CF strip (.007 by 1/2 inch) top and bottom over the wing tube and extending to within an inch of the wing tip.
Before gluing I trimmed the spars even with the wing surface and taped over them after adding the probond and weighing down the wings. Tha ttube will never come out. Great idea Carden!
