I should mention that the wings were trial fitted to the fuse prior to gluing in the wing tube which makes things much easier than sanding the root later. I'll post more pics tonight.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

While coring out the servo wire slots in the wing the wire broke on the weller gun and it made a slight mess of things..grrrr So instead I used a dremel bit to cut a groove and then a ball router bit to cut the hole for the servos which was messier but cleaner and more consistent.
So anyway the wing hardpoints and servo mounts are in and I'm planning the cf strip placements. I'll post a pic of the other wing which will be much cleaner once everything is in place.
Also glued in the phenolics for the stab and made up the skins for sheeting that so still on track for frame finish by Christmas!

I hope to have everything sheeted including wings by end of next week.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

To add fire to the controversy of one vs two receivers, I will be using a single 6014 receiver and a Smart Fly Turbo reg with two 4800 LiIon batteries and a seperate 2400 LiIon battery on ignition with a single Smart fly pin switch.
This combo has worked for both my Aeroworks Extra 260 (with 2300mah LiIon) and my 43% JTech Extra 300 for over five years without a glitch.
I have found over the years that main failure points are switches, batteries and neglect. I've been with Futaba since they came on the market in the 70s and have never looked back and the receiver has never been an issue with any of my planes for over 40 years, so no dual ones for me.
Flame suit on!

Hey LEE have you ever considered Futaba's S.BUS? I have it set up on my 35% Extra and it is so clean and tidy and it eliminates extra wire clutter and wieght. Your already Futaba so there wouldn't be a huge change for ya. No smart fly stuff needed.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

First time I used 2 receivers on my new 43% it crashed on the second flight due to a faulty A123 switch that killed the battery to the receiver with the auto kill. it dead stick and plowed the farmers field like a tractor.

I might do like Trevor next time and use 5 receivers. one for each control surface...JUst Kidding
