Thats why I really like the smartfly turbo since you get redundant battery voltage that you can ramp up and if one goes south the other keeps on truckin. Also the receiver always only sees its own low filtered clean voltage plus add in the optical ignition kill system built in and a pin switch that fails to on plus a fan to keep everything cool...beautiful!

Ok moving along, here are a few pics of the wing cf layout plus a show and tell on how I put in the servo rails and horn hardpoint. I am using the red anodized horns you can get at Azure Hobbies for the wings and the more traditional dowel and bolt system from Dubro on the elevators plus the Durant twin servo in the rudder. I like variety I guess

Hi Lee

Just curious as to why you are using 2 of the 3/8s ply pads in your ailerons, are you gonna be doing some kind of other set up?

Hey Bryon:

Lee's going to do this:

It requires a wide footprint.

Regards,

Dennis

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Exactly! These will be buried under the sheeting so when I am ready, I will cut out the 1/16 balsa sheeting and replace with same thickness ply prior to mounting the horns. Also because I'm going with a single servo in this wing, the servo mount is extra beefy. I will place other servo mounts just inboard of these in case I find I need more power due to blowback but they will remain hidden unless needed.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Lee, its looking great. Those look like the aeroworks horns that come with the arfs?

I like those alot better than the single rod. Never broken one of those before

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Hi guys,
I am using those same aluminum horns on the elevators and rudder of the big ultimate.
I will be using the supplied fiberglass arms on the ailerons because they don't need to be that big

Something I am thinking about when I retire. Buy a big Snap-On Tool truck, trash most of the tools and stock it with ALL Du-Bro and accessories, servos, bats, Rxs, props...... and maybe a 100 gallon tank of 94 Hi Octane gas!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Got all the cf strip epoxied onto the wings and stabs using West Sytems 105 and 205 hardener...nice stuff! Safety issues here...I wore a mask and disposeable gloves for sanding the cf strips and epoxiing the strips onto the foam. CF dust is like asbestos and never leaves your lungs so do the simple things and enjoy the hobby for a long time
These strips are so thin I dont bother sanding a groove in the foam, just the pressure of the tape and some weights makes the seam almost invisible and the sheeting will complete the integration. The addition of the strip makes the foam ultra stiff...oh yaahhhh
