Ted and Joy were wonderful and I even stayed overnight after a few brown pops to celebrate
Next morning, like kids at Christmas we went down, unhooked the vaccuum hoses and removed two beautiful, straight, light and super stiff wing panels. Ted wanted to keep them and offered his unfinished ones but I only would have taken the deal if he lent me his lightened DA200 and Proflow cans. He changed his mind! Thanks Ted and Joy!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Great seeing all you guys and really looking forward to Maidenfest I just figured out the compression on these wings with vaccuum vs traditional.
6 inches of Hg = 2.94 pounds per sq in. My wings are about 1142 sq inches so that equates to 3358 pounds of pressure!!!!! Amazingly tests have shown that the foam wont crush until you reach about 12 in hg, and guys are using 4-5 in hg for cored wings. This is sorta like the egg trick where you cant crush it if you hold it just right.
The trick here is that the pressure is perfectly even across the entire structure all around, which is why it works so well for foam cores.
Cool huh?

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

This week I hope to get the wings and stab incidences all set, then I can glue the vertical stab on. All parts are sheeted and drying but I will be hot wire cutting the canopy decks some. Carden doesn't mention the sheeting needed for the canopy deck for the shorter "special" version so luckily i caught that before cutting the sheeting to size for this part. I'll mention this to Dennis so others dont mess up their sheeting.
I should have more pics soon of the stab root rib modification so stay tuned!

Yes I am making cf laminate root ribs with the tabs. I just like the convenience of the tabs a la aeroworks. They will also have anti rotation pins installed. I'll post a pic once they're prettied up!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Here are a few pics of the stab root plates. I had some cf I bought probably 20 years ago and finally got to use it...yay! Wings are all trimmed and getting set up for the incidences this weekend. I'll enlist Brendan or Kent to help and maybe get their juices flowing for a future build The plates weigh .7 ounces each and will be trimmed a little further once glued on. They are bulletproof!
