Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Interesting technique, still trying to figure it out really. I must be a bit thick. Different approach from what I have done so will be good to see how you finish that up. No blind nut on the back of the wing hard point obviously.
I just saw another thread where a similar approach is used where all the holes were made on the root before installing.

Its a Yak, big surprize, but another different way to do it. There a good durant thing there to.
I have just used the sharpened 8/32 bolt to mark the spot once 0 degrees is set.
Looking good.

Jason

glue the whole mess including wing root rib with probond and dont forget to drill for servo wire location prior and which side is bottom on wing!

Remeber this is only to get close for the final drilling which will set the incidence forever. I will be using 8-32 bolts and threaded inserts in the wing and a cf tube with dowel center for the anti rotation pin which will also be drilled for a clip a la Aeroworks.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Hey Jason. It will make sense soon enough
I'm doing a lot of the sub preparations such as cowl, wheelpants, cockpit detail etc. The cowl is two piece and I am trying a novel idea. The pics tell it all!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Very cool Lee!!!

So the rubber-backed washers are glued to the lower cowl, right? What did you glue them with? - GOOP?

Great idea!!! I bet those wood-threads really lock into that rubber!! And vibration-proof!

Awesome idea!!!!

Cheers

Trev

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Yes the rubber bonded washers are glued to the inside of the cowl and the screws go into the rubber and make a surprisingly strong hold. Sort of a fully shock mounted system! Not sure how they will hold up with repeated removal but its easy to inset some plastic tubing into the ends if the rubber lets go or wears out. I think I wll do a few traditional screws at the cowl front end but try removing one of these once screwed together!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Absolutely love it Lee!!! I personally like a clear canopy more aswell! I'm just doing the blacked-out canopy to match the VW scheme.

But that dash - stunning

Something tells me we may see a little more of that Kevlar look in that cockpit

Congrats!

Trev
