Yep, great product but hard to get. Anyway I fabricated a neat clamp for gluing the canopy on but the idea is from Walt on FG with some modifications. Ill take pics later today as I glue on the canopy. Brendan, you'll have so many little things ready for you when we build your Carden!

Also hope to get the cowl mounted today too, but we'll see how the honey doo list goes

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Thanks for the encouragement guys Anyway today I finally got the canopy gooped on (Marine Goop) and built a jig for holding the sides down tight. This uses the existing canopy bolts and worked great.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

The cowl rings I modified and will consult with Dennis on the change. I made an extension on the lower cowl ring so that I can bolt the cowl from inside the fuse for the top two bolts and the low bolt will still be accessed the regular way by a small hole in the side of the cowl. The existing design didnt allow enough room for getting a ball driver inside the fuse as its too close to the side. Now the bolt is centered on the existing ply cross piece and I added a 2 1/2 by 1/2 ply piece to make it slightly wider and stronger.
Now to remove the entire cowl its an easy six bolt job.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Soooooo, guess I'm sanding and you know what comes next ahhh I can smell the ultracoat fumes now!!
Still lots of things to do like fuel tank mount, canister mount, wheel pants, cuffs, figure out servo locations, etc...but the main construction is done
A huge thanks to Dennis at Carden for such a beautiful kit and to my understanding and loving wife who bought me the thing! I love her!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Some more pics to keep things interesting First is the cowl all gooped up and drying and the baffle I got that will be installed tomorrow. I am only gluing it in the bottom half of the cowl so it doesn't have to be split as was done on FG.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

So the sanding has begun! Here are the various tools needed (lots of sanding bars and various grades up to 400 grit). I use two sided carpet tape to stick onto the bases and using foam for the curved surfaces since it bends slighlty to conform to the wings and stabs without creating flat spots and wont gouge if I jab in a corner! Last is of my color palatte. Cutting on glass with lots of sharp #11s
