Great choice Lee!!!

I've got (6) of those on order... supposed to be out late February

I had the chance to play with Wingburner's BLS servos and there's nothing like them

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Some pics to spice things up! First is a shot of the cf fuse cross bracing I finally put in. Its a wider spacing than on the plans but when you add the canopy the whole structure is overbuilt in my opinion anyway. The rods are inset under tension with epoxy...wont be breaking sticks reaching in there
The wings were ready to cover but I thought I should add these ply plates over the 1/4 plates already in the core so the horns dont compress over time and possibly loosen, especially with 500 ounces plus of torque acting all the time!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Love the EasyCoat and highly recommended First coat to seal the balsa, then my .6 ounce glass cloth left over from pattern days on top. I use a dry brush to static cling it smoothly over, then used about 3/4 ounce of EasyCoat to saturate the cloth and stick it down. Smooth as a babies bum! This will dry then the glass will be trimmed, a light sanding to 400 grit and the final coat of EasyCoat to seal the glass and should be ready for primer.
The ply plates are in and once the filler is dry sanded I can start covering the wings later today.
Last pic shows some products I use. For spackle..from Home Hardware..very light and sands beautifully with no shrink or cracking. The green tape is vinyl painting tape to define sharp edges where sprayng paint. Curves beautifully, no seepage and removes cleanly. The red things are actually sculpting tools in varying hardnesses of silicone so wont scratch or dent balsa while applying filler for finish coat and makes really nice smooth creases in clay.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

The green tape I get at a premium paint store. Most that carry Benjamin Moore paints should stock it. Maybe even find it at home Depot? If you really get stuck I can send you some.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Cool,
We have a Benjamin Moore store about 5 minutes away
That should be good for the layout and fine lines. Then I can tape and paper off that before I paint

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

I usually use e green masking tape and plastic bags instead of newspaper as I find you get less chance of tears and possible overspray than paper masks, but that's just me.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

I find the taping products at the automotive paint supply stores to very effective. Thin and flexible striping tape and also a tape with paper attached to the edge for taping off big areas. And tack cloths in bulk.
