Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Hey Mike, not sure yet. I actually used Tremclad orange on my other plane for the orange which was a perfect match, and seems very durable and fade free over three years! I will probably use PPG and get it color matched for the Ultracote sky blue which will be on the cowl and wheelpants. What do you use?
I still have k&b super proxy primer from my pattern days which I love as a primer and will use that underneath. I like that it's white vs most primers that are grey. I find paint doesn't fade out over time with white primer.
We weighed the plane at our seminar which included everything minute the cans and headers, electronics, fuel system and ignition. Came in at just under 27 pounds so I should easily hit my target weight of 36 with this plane on a DA150 with MTW 110 cans. I can easily go with RE3s if I need more power but this should be ballistic and carry me through to unlimited maybe by the end of the season

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Hey Lee PPG paint is the way to go but if you get someone to paint it for you let them use their primer as well I had an issue with primer not matching the paint being used and the paint had a hard time taking to the primer.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Hey Jack, yes i'm getting more and more excited as this one gets its final colors! I cant imagine a 200 on this plane. I weighed mine at our seminar and it was just under 27 pounds minus the cans, fuel and electronics so my target weight of 36 should be close. This is 12 pounds less than my Jtech extra with the same power system and Iwas flying Advanced with very little trouble.
Are you doing the shortened aileron mod on your plane? There is an excellent build of this plane on Flying Giants by Dean and he has gone to the DA200 from the DA150 on regular exhaust. Interesting comments about this

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

I will most likely leave the ailerons stock so i can have the full 3D option. i was't aware Dean changed it to a DA150. I'm know a DA 150 is more then enough and probably more suited for the Pro. I'll go and check Deans comment.
