I've been doing a lot of shopping lately and should have everything I need to get started on this baby next week I found a great digital level at Princess Auto today that sells for fifty bucks. It's backlit, tells temperature and can read degrees, percent inclination, and even has audible for level, 45, 90 etc! The instructions are hilariously translated from Chinese and they even say the word "ululate"! Say that three times...

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Garage is cleaned out and new workshop aka "Leexster's Lair" is ready for action! I put the motor box of the Carden PRO together again and planning where to take out some ounces. Can't do too much until I get my SWB standoff, epoxy, cyan etc.. Should be all in early this week.
This is a BIG plane although not as wide in the fuse as my JTech Extra but it is longer.
Let the building begin

OK Pics finally to get the juices going. First couple are of the new shop. Cozy! I put reflective insulated foil by the heaters and opposite walls. Sure warms up in a hurry thanks to Brendan's heater that he "lent " me

Here is the motor box just fit together to see where to lighten. The next pic is of former F2 which will be trimmed 1/8 on the fuse side so I have balsa instead of ply to bevel sand to the cowl. I will also do this to the canopy frame later as covering sticks much better as well as bevelling, recessing etc. The fuse sides will of course be lenghthened the 1/8 to cover the ply ends of F2.

Wow Lee!!! Great to see all the design tweaks for that 124" motorbox!!! I notice that Dennis has added two more lateral stiffeners to tie the mbox sides together (1 under the front of the LG plate + 1 behind the LG plate) I've been making up fuel tank / pipes saddles that does the same thing and once they are added, you can instantly feel the difference in torsional stiffness.

A few others tweaks!!
* lightened under the back of the wingtube!
* 1 1/2" wing tube (vs 2" on the 126")
* pre-lightened tunnel ceiling - no longer a tank tray
* Different lightening pattern on the mbox sides - transfers landing forced into fuse differently
* 1 extra mbox wing on each side (so F1-F5 now vs F1-F4 on the 126")
* motorbox extends back further - easier to get tank over CG
* I think the topplate of the mbox is also different (but I can't see it)

Droooooooooool !!
