How did it fly Don??? You did the Breitling scheme, right?

Did you go with a DA200 or a twin?

not to hijack this thread so just a quick note!
I went with the 200 from Doug. It's awesome.
37.2lbs without graphics.
Flies like a foamy but I was freezing my a** off so it was a short flight.

Hi Lee this was my solution for my RE2 on the Hanger 9 260 [35%]
two 3" thin fiberglass tubes with a collector at the end.
This way I have no possibility of ever having wires fall on to the Exhaust system and the fuse stays colder

Lee,

Word of caution!

Use some 1/2oz FG cloth and finishing epoy to srengthen that 1/16" balsa.

Trevor did my Carden 32.5% Yak, just bare wood like yours. The wood lasted a few flights but then cracked!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Thought I'd keep this thread going since it concerns my beloved PRO
So I flew it all spring and summer with the DA170 and RE3s and loved the extra power but at the Worlds I was having power issues and I lost at least two rounds including an unknown due to lack of oommph
Pretty sure the RE3s are plugged up and I will be cleaning them. BTW what is everyone using these days as a flush?
So why am I posting this here? Well I am upping the ante and coming soon is a hardly used DA200L with KS95 pipes! Oh yeaaaahh

I will document the transition to this ultimate powerhouse over the next few months just for fun!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

This will not be a simple engine swap like going from a 150 to the 170. I have a spare cowl that will be used for the retrofit, and will have to make a new firewall and get a 3degree SWB mount. I will also have to make a rear battery hatch (near the tail) to offset the engine weight and redo the throttle and choke servo locations.
Should be fun!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Instead of a hatch you could make a battery tray that hooks onto the tops of the formers and is held in place with a couple loops of Velcro. I'll try to find the pictures in the build thread of what I did for my Dalton. Takes 1 minute to remove the entire tray for easy access to the batteries for charging.

Check out post #386. http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/show...t=Battery+tray

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Congrats Lee!!!

You'll also notice a reduction in the amount of battery consumption despite the extra ignition... the vibs from the twins really cause the servos to work more!!
