That's hilarious Lee but I better not tell Anne Marie, we would both be dead, she loves her cat more than me or you for that matter..

Is it legal to use a 100% scale pilot?

Hi Steve
I never thought of that, he'd probably fly unlimited or at least better than me.
Sorry Lee, I'm done hijacking your thread...

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

These pics are for Bill Teeter to show my tunnel mod for the RE3s. The front part of the new tunnel (where it is narower) is 5 3/4 inches wide and at the rear is 5 1/4 which makes for a very tight fit! In fact at the rear I used stainless steel tie wraps with silicone cushions which went through a ply plate inside the fuse to hold the pipes down. Also put a gob of high temp silicone at the base of each pipe at the strap area to prevent movement which held up all summer.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

And no the pipes did not get dented like that in my tunnel. I bought them used and "slightly dented" which was a little more than I expected In fact you can see where the stainless straps where just in behind the dents. Just a little bit of polishing there!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

A few pics of the nose amputation and the new slots cut out for the new firewall. Looks rough but I'll pretty everything up soon!
To shoehorn the new firewall I cut away some of the inside square reinforcement, then hit the corners with the heat gun until the epoxy softened enough to pop the joint enough to put the firewall into the slots. As you'll see its a very tight fit but that pic will wait until everything is epoxied in with hysol.

Lee - thanks a bunch. What is the lining of the tunnel, cannot quite make it out from the photos ? Seems to me I remember you saying you were going to use 1/16 in balsa but Jim warned you about cracking. So I see there is some other lining --- is that Kevlar ?

Lee those dents are easily removable. What you need to do is be able to plug both ends of the pipe. At one end you need to be able to add compressed air. Get a little bit of air pressure in the pipe and heat the dented area with a torch. You slowly see the dents popping out.
